The Aston Martin DB6, produced from 1965 to 1970, was the successor to the iconic DB5 and featured several key updates aimed at improving comfort and stability without compromising performance. The DB6 introduced a longer wheelbase, revised roofline for improved rear passenger space, and a distinctive Kamm-tail rear design for better aerodynamic efficiency. Powered by a 4.0-litre DOHC inline-six engine producing around 282bhp with triple SU carburettors, the DB6 offered strong performance for its time, with a top speed of approximately 145mph and 0–60mph acceleration in just over seven seconds. It retained Aston Martin’s handcrafted quality, featuring luxurious Connolly leather interiors, Wilton carpeting, polished wood trim, and optional features such as air conditioning, power steering, and wire wheels. The DB6 was favored by a number of well-known owners during the 1960s and remains highly desirable among collectors today.
This particular 1966 Aston Martin DB6 is a rare and well-preserved example, finished in Dubonnet Red with a Biscuit leather interior. It has covered 78,000 miles and remains in very good overall condition. The Dubonnet Red paintwork is a striking and less common factory color, and pairs beautifully with the light tan interior. The car comes with a substantial history file, which documents its maintenance and provenance in detail. Further specifics about its mechanical configuration, service history, and originality can be provided and will be included in the next section as we review the documentation.
The car’s MOT history is well-documented, with hard copy MOT certificates on file dating back to 1974, when the car showed 47,000 miles. These paper records continue through to 2006, after which MOT testing history is recorded electronically. The vehicle has undergone regular MOT tests in most years since then, with the most recent test completed in July 2025, showing just over 78,000 miles. This continuous record supports the car’s mileage and long-term maintenance.
Through the extensive folder of history, we have the three previous bills of sale, from 1986 for £18,000 with Richard Stewart Williams AML , 1989 for £85,000 from Aston Martin Sales Ltd London and 1996 for £25,000 from Nicholas Mee & Company to the current owner of the vehicle.
A Testament to the current and previous owners’ care for this vehicle, we have copies of all correspondence between Aston Martin Sales teams vehicle valuations throughout the years, to ensure the vehicle was covered correctly for insurance for the full vehicle value.
The Extensive Service history dating back to as early as 1974 shows the true care that has been undertaken during the ownership of this vehicle. Receipts totalling well in advance of over £150,000 in our file, showing true care regardless of the cost.
Since the restoration work was completed our DB6 has been kept in controlled secure storage and has only been used to be taken for its yearly MOT, essentially brand new since rebuild. The car performs exceptionally well and is regularly started and moved in house to ensure it is in perfect mechanical condition.
The vehicle was looked after extensively by renowned specialists Ian Mason AMS between 1991 and 2008 and Aston Service London from 2009 – present. Please do get in touch for the full history file with dates and individual works and costs.
