1961 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster
This fine example of a 190SL is finished in the desirable Silver Grey Metallic coupled with a perfectly complimenting oxblood red leather which has recently been retrimmed to an exquisite standard it comes with a perfectly contrasting Black convertible top. An original matching number vehicle from Germany that was imported to the UK in 2001 and restored.
All Cosmetic, Mechanicals, Brakes and Chassis have been restored correctly and properly with genuine parts. The 190 SL has been used during summer months for commuting to a local park for family days out and picnics being used sparingly since early 2017. The owner of this SL is downsizing and moving on to different projects. In 2001, the car underwent a full mechanical restoration by Joe Macari. Since then the car has been stored by the previous owner as an investment. Since coming out of storage the car underwent a revamp to get it back to the same standard from when it was released from Joe Macari.
The revamp performed on this vehicle was carried out during February – March 2017 by O’Keeffe Coach-trimming & Restoration, of Warlingham, Surrey. This included a mechanical restoration stripping of all mechanical components and rebuilding with genuine care. Recent bills of over £10,000 show all the work completed.
Notable recent work completed consists of all serviceable items such as oils, perishables and ignition system being replaced including all seals, hoses and gaskets. Complete suspension and brake clean-up and rebuild to ensure full functionality. Complete carburettor-rebuild and tune-up to ensure the engine is running smoothly with full power. Complete tank removal and blasting to ensure clean fuel is available to the engine, new gearbox and engine mounts, and supporting gearbox linkages.
